Mobiuz Subscribers in the Bukhara and Samarkand Regions Use 6 Gigabytes of Data Every Second

Over the first seven months of 2026, Mobiuz has launched more than 180 new 4G LTE base stations across the two regions. The results show up in the number that matters most: how much internet subscribers actually use.

What This Means for Tourists

Bukhara and Samarkand are cornerstones of Uzbekistan's tourism map. In the first half of 2026, the country welcomed more than 6.5 million foreign visitors, and a large share of that flow moved through these two regions.

Today's tourist, according to Mobiuz, is online almost constantly - navigating an unfamiliar city, running a vendor's price through a translation app, paying by card, leaving a review, posting a story, or video calling home.

Tourist traffic has a distinct signature: it clusters in the same places at the same hours. Registan, Gur-e-Amir, Shah-i-Zinda, Lyabi-Hauz, the Ark, and dozens of other sites. For a network, that means peak load packed into a small footprint. All of it is factored in at the planning stage - before a new station goes up or an existing one is upgraded.

What This Means for Residents

The Samarkand region is the most densely populated in the country, home to nearly 4.4 million people. The Bukhara region has more than 2.1 million. That density makes its own demands on the network.Local traffic runs on a different rhythm. It peaks in the evening, when people get home - homework, streaming shows, video calls to relatives abroad, utility payments, remote work.

Tourist traffic peaks by day in the city center. Resident traffic peaks at night in the neighborhoods. The network has to carry both.

Data Volume: The Number That Counts

Network development has one measure that can't be dressed up: the volume of data carried. In other words, how much internet subscribers really use.

Mobiuz subscribers in the Bukhara region have crossed a historic milestone, now consuming more than 4 million gigabytes of mobile internet a month. Put another way, that is roughly 4 million hours of video calls - or 456 years of nonstop conversation.

In the Samarkand region, consumption runs higher still: 10 million gigabytes a month. That is 2.5 times Bukhara's volume, and enough to stream about 6.7 million movies.

What Comes Next

Technical work continues in the Bukhara and Samarkand regions, as it does elsewhere in the country. New sites are going live, capacity at existing stations is expanding, and spectrum is being progressively reallocated to 4G LTE.

The priority has not changed: a stable connection and coverage where people live and work every day.
