Mobiuz is implementing new investment projects to develop communications

Mobiuz and Chinese vendors signed a new package of documents providing for the development of mobile communications in Uzbekistan in 2024-2028.

Mobile operator Mobiuz strives to introduce advanced technologies into its networks and expand the digital capabilities of the population. Thus, last year the company was the first to provide access to VoLTE and ViLTE throughout Uzbekistan. To implement such solutions, large investments are required, access to advanced markets and manufacturers, and the establishment of long-term partnerships with them.

On January 25, 2024, an Investment Forum was held in Shenzhen as part of the state visit of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan to the People's Republic of China. At the forum, Mobiuz and leading Chinese companies Huawei and ZTE signed new documents to deepen further cooperation.

In particular, an agreement was signed between Mobiuz and Huawei on a project to modernize and expand Mobiuz mobile communication systems in 2024-2028.

The project, totaling $80 million, is aimed at building new and upgrading existing base stations. Thanks to this, the coverage areas of 5G and 4G networks from Mobiuz will be expanded, base stations of a new type will be deployed in areas with high population density and in rural areas, and new technologies will be introduced.

An agreement was signed between Mobiuz and ZTE for the further development of the company’s network in the Republic of Karakalpakstan and the Khorezm region in 2024-2028.

As part of the project, totaling $20 million, ZTE will supply the necessary equipment and related technologies for the further development of mobile communications in two western regions of Uzbekistan.

These agreements on specific areas of cooperation were a logical continuation of the agreements signed in May 2023 between telecommunications companies of Uzbekistan and China.

In addition, on January 25 of this year, an agreement was also signed between Mobiuz and Huawei on the further implementation of Massive MIMO FDD technology in the Republic of Uzbekistan in 2024-2025.

The project with a total cost of 4.9 million US dollars is aimed at the active implementation of Massive MIMO - a technology to increase data transfer speeds through the use of several frequency channels. It should be noted that during 2023, Mobiuz successfully tested and launched Massive MIMO on its networks.

Mobile operator Mobiuz began actively attracting foreign investment in 2019, when it reached agreements on the implementation of a project totaling $150 million for the development of mobile communications in 2021-2024. This project was successfully implemented one year ahead of schedule.

In 2023, Mobiuz also successfully implemented an investment project to introduce TDD (Time-division duplexing) technology in the 4G LTE network in the Fergana Valley.
